I give a 5 star review to Eccentric International Chefs..because of their professionalism, kindness, flexibly to give me the time to get my father day cake even after they had closed. I had ordered the cake earlier in the day & didn't hear my cell phone ring the many times they had called me.

I'm so thankful & always will be a life long customer. Not only are there cakes and pastries are the bomb..but so is the staff & owners.

I love their service and their cakes!!! Four years ago we had our wedding cake done here. We didn't really have anything in mind as far as decoration, but Carl came up with some great ideas!

Since then we have been going back for every birthday occasion. Melina is there most times we've gone in and we are always greeted with a smile. It's a bit of a drive for us, but definitely worth it!

If you are looking for a cake that is attractive as well as tastes great (i.e., your guests will actually eat the piece they've been served and not just eat the "obligatory bite" and then surreptitiously dispose of the remainder in the trash can) this is the place to go! The icing is such a pleasant surprise from the "so sweet you could mainline the sugar" icing you usually get from the mega all-in-one stores. We actually drive 15 miles each way to buy their cakes, NO LIE!!!

Amazing price for an amazing cake

Really pushed the limits with this cake and Chef Carl lived up to every thing he promised

I was looking for a place to get a cake for my hubby and found this on yelp. So I went in and talked to Melina. She was really nice and she was making it so easy to order because I have no creative idea for the cake just the flavors that he likes. Anyway the cake was paid for and the day was made to pick up then I realized that I would like to add something to it and Melina said " please think about what would you like and whenever you are ready just email me and remember we will make it just the way that you like because it's your cake" I was so happy with the cake and it look amazing more than I was pictured it. Thank you so much!!!

I have had numerous cakes made with the bakers here and no matter how detailed I am with what I want they always seem to hit the nail on the head. I will continue to go to them for all of my baking needs! Melinda you're the greatest!!

Wow, this bakery is amazing. I ordered a red velvet birthday cake and it was the hit of the party! I have ordered cakes from other bakeries but this was by far the best. It was moist, light and the whipped cream frosting was like heaven. I have also had their panettone which is to die for, but it's only made at the end of the year. Would definitely recommend this bakery to all my friends.

This place is great! I was looking for some sweet treats to bring my mother-in-law as a pick-me-up from having knee surgery. I've passed this place a million times, but never went in. The two people working were very helpful and kind. They were kind of busy, which I always see as a sign of a good place. I was looking for sugar cookies, but they only had one with filling or in the shape of a train with sprinkles. Although I didn't leave with what I was looking for, I walked away very happy with the desserts I did buy. Their salted caramel macaroons are to die for! I will definitely be going back for some more! I also bought a few pastries that I've heard were delicious as well. I really like this great, local find!

Carl and Melina are absolutely wonderful! They were contracted through my venue in San Marcos and my wedding package included a cake from them. I am SOOO unbelievably happy to have found these Bakers! Being brand new to the North County area I would have had no idea where to start looking for a great baker. My Husband and I have had over 10 people asking where our cake came from. Guests at our wedding said they have never had better cake in their lives. Coming from a large family and being to many weddings I can honestly say this really was the best wedding cake I've ever had. Sadly my venue had inexperienced wait staff and my wedding cake which should have fed 130 barely fed 88 guests.

Advice for the future bride/groom: No matter how far the drive, please do not miss out on a tasting, it will be worth every mile! You owe it to yourself to have a beautiful, elegant DELICIOUS cake.

P.s. when you get your cake to the venue do not let your venue take the cake in the back to cut it, make them cut it in front of everyone!!!

I will forever be ordering cake from them in the future, I cant wait for my daughters birthday :)

Carl designed our wedding cake and we were so impressed with the final result.

When we first met with Carl, I did not come with pictures and only had a mental picture of what I wanted. Carl designed our cake based on my description. He also helped us decide on flavors because we loved everything we tasted!

On the wedding day the cake was delivered on time and looked beautiful. So many of our guests asked us where we got our cake because they loved it!

We found a baker for life!

Husband and wife team own this bakery...I am so glad I stumbled across this jewel. I am always hesitant of trying new places, especially when it comes to food for parties. I was not disappointed! We just recently had them make our wedding cake and we got so many complements on how delicious the cake was. In fact, the guests loved it so much that we had no left overs!!! That's totally unheard of for wedding cakes.

We had our first taste of these amazing cakes and knew instantly that we needed to make an appointment (as you have to do with everything for weddings) to have a cake testing. At our tasting, they brought out 3 delicious slices of cake and when my husband was not so thrilled about the raspberry they we're more than accommodating about having our middle tier have strawberry instead. For our icing we decided that since no one actually likes fondant we would rather have whipped cream. Granted, you can't do as many intricate designs with whipped cream, but who cares-- people are just going to eat it! Our cake turned out just as we wanted, tasted fantastic, and all the guests raved about it.

In addition to our cake we decided to have a dozen cupcakes along with the cake for the kids at the wedding. The cupcakes are just as amazing as their cakes (they're on sale on Tuesdays and Thursdays, by the way!) and the kids loved having their own cakes,

We love this bakery. The staff is friendly, it's owned by a cute married couple, and the cakes are delicious.

After searching for the perfect cake for my Husband's 40th birthday, and then searching all over the county to find someone to make it for under $1,000 I was recommended by a friend to call Carl at Eccentric International Chefs.

I read all the Yelp reviews and was a little nervous, but after talking with Carl, I was put at ease. He made the cake, at a very reasonable price, and it was FABULOUS!! My husband was very surprised and everyone absolutely RAVED about the cake!! Even before they tasted it! We got the Marble cake with Bavarian Cream, Raspberry and Ganache filling. IT WAS DEVINE!!! Thank you Carl for making such a wonderful confection!!! We will definitely be back!

Working and Chefs Carl and Melina in order to attain the perfect wedding cake was extremely easy! The cake design was beautiful and the cake, itself, tasted great. We have been asked by many guests where the cake was ordered. The bakery is affordable and feed many (ie. 270 guests) for a great price!

Me n my friends use these guys for every event... Gender reveals, baby showers, birthday parties... Love them

My wife and I Got Married on Aug 2 of this year. We could not be happier with our cake and the professionalism by them.

Not only did they have great pricing but they were extremely nice

We had more compliments on our cake than anything. We live in La Jolla and came down here after reading there Yelp reviews.

Totally recommend them and I will for any of my friends or family.

My wedding was on Saturday!

I ordered my cake in the beginning of this year, later on I went in two and saw that there were some bad reviews on how the cake was not what they had ordered , or that it didn't look good, it was melted ... I was scared , so I called and asked what it was about . The girl was very kind and assured me that everything was going to be ok!

The day of my wedding Carlos brought my cake and I was nervous to see it, I didn't get a chance to see it till the reception, and it looked FABULOUS !! It was everything i wanted and moré! It was delicious and perfect! Exactly what I wanted..

I just ordered a second cake for a baby shower! And my friend is getting married next year and is also getting her cake here!

If you were like me and are doubting on wether to get your cake or not ! Make sure you have your cake in a shaded place ! Don't order a cake and put it in the window where the sun is hitting it and than write a review on his Carlos screwed up you wedding!

I love it here and I will come back as long as they are in business !

We ordered our wedding cake from Eccentric International Chefs - and it was amazing! We chose three different flavors for our three layer cake and they decorated it with a few light pink orchid flowers. It was beautiful and tasted just as delicious as when we tried it during the tasting.

Now, I always go to Eccentric International Chefs whenever we need a cake - it's worth the 30 minute drive each way. I ordered one for Valentines Day and even asked for a custom filling that wasn't part of their special. The owners didn't hesitate to accommodate my wishes and made sure I was 100% happy before walking out!

The owners are fantastic and accommodating - even when I called in with less than 24 hours to recreate the top tier of our wedding cake (which we also got here). The cake is so delicious that it's worth the 25 minute drive.

You can't ask for more - the cake tastes fantastic, looks better than expected and the owners are beyond nice. I've tried plenty of other places and this one is just way above the rest!

I have been looking for a good local bakery. When I went in the gentlemen was so nice and greeting. He walked me through everything they had. I got six different cookies and each one of them was so most and light it was amazing.

Super easy working with Carl and Melina! They were great and made planning our wedding from out of state painless! Cakes ordered just as designed and how we wanted! Our guests raved at the taste!!

You can't ask for more - the cake tastes fantastic, looks better than expected and the owners are beyond nice. I've tried plenty of other places and this one is just way above the rest!

Holy cow! This is a secret little gem. This is my second visit here. The first time it was a drop in for a cookie . They were moist and delicious. My husband brought home cupcakes on the second visit. I have been to sprinkles and other high end bakeries but this place makes the best cupcakes ever! So glad we tried this place. Won't disappoint!

We had an outdoor wedding ceremony at a park overlooking the beach and then a dinner reception at a restaurant. Because of our San Diego/beach-y theme, we designed a cake with Melina that featured sugar corals and seahorses on the top and chocolate covered strawberries decorating the space between the two layers (we had spacers rather than stacking them).

Everything turned out beautifully! It was a unique, gorgeous cake that also tasted really good! We had two layers of white cake with a lemon filling on the top and a raspberry filling on the bottom.

I really like their cakes because, since Carl is European, it's not super sweet like American cakes. This suited the tastes of my family really well since many of them are from Vietnam and find American desserts to be far too sweet.

The delivery to the restaurant where the reception was was prompt, and the cake arrived in perfect condition!

I had the most wonderful experience here. I needed a wedding cake/ cupcakes last minute. They we so accommodating. I was surprised to see how inexpensive it was going to be. Not to mention they were so flexible with the designs. My order was ready on time and it tasted delicious. everyone at our wedding loved it and asked where we got it from. I will come back here every time.

We recently celebrated our daughter's wedding 5/24/14. Just can't thank the staff at Eccentric International Chef's for the wonderful job they did on the wedding cake. The staff was so nice and helpful. The happy couple got a cake that was beautiful and, more importantly, delicious. All the wedding guest made sure to tell us how much they enjoyed the cake. The added bonus at Eccentric is the prices are so affordable and have a very minimal delivery fee. I would highly recommend Eccentric International Chefs. Thanks again.

Love their cakes, they are wonderful people that really work hard at taking care of there customers! And make delicious cakes, I highly recommend them!

I go out of my way for Carl and Melina, I'll drive across town for some Bliss, they truly have a Great business, awesome, delicious product...I would eat cupcakes all day if I could. From day One, when I met them on a Business consultation, I fell in love...great company, great people and I'm happy they chose me to be their consultant for services.

I first came across eccentric bakery, in a bridal show I went with my friend that was getting married a few years back. I loved their cake and I also had a good experience chatting with their bakers at the bridal bazaar. When I got engaged, my fiancée and I went to a bridal bazaar looking for a bakery and I was very lucky that eccentric bakery was there! My fiancée and I had a sample of their white raspberry/strawberry cake with whipped cream a and we fell in love with it. We made an appt with them for a tasting and we were very impressed with their professionalism, the cakes and also that it was affordable. We picked a three layer cake with ivory buttercream and a vanilla/ raspberry flavor. I had showed her a picture of a cake I loved, and she immediately

grabbed a piece of paper, drew a cake and took all my suggestions until we came across the perfect cake:) our guest loved our cake and we were very happy with the way it turned out:) my husband and I are planning on getting a small cake for our first anniversary since we did not get to eat much of it the day of our wedding! Overall we are ver happy with them and we will recommended them to all our friends!

EIC made my wedding cake vision a reality and didn't blink an eye when I changed the quantity or flavors of my cake 2 weeks before the wedding! I will never visit another bakery in San Diego for special occasion cakes!!! Simply amazing!

Our wedding cake from Eccentric International Chefs was excellent! We ordered a three layer fondant cake with different flavors on each layer.

The cake was gorgeous! A picture of our cake is uploaded. It was a quilted design with pearl dots, and flowers running down the side of the cake (provided by our flower vendor, Flower Girls - see my other reviews for info on them).

Carl and Melina were great to work with. They delivered the cake and worked with my flower vendor, so that we didn't have to worry about a thing!

The cake was very popular with my guests too. Some of my guests told me that they ate multiple slices because it was so delicious! You may want to order extra!

If you want a delicious and inexpensive cake, come here! I had tasted their cakes before from others that have ordered from Eccentric but have not ordered a cake from them personally.

My friend wanted a "baby lunch" not shower with NO pink or pastels! So the only colors that would do, were red, black and white. I walked in 3 weeks before the event and ordered a chevron print cake serving 10 people. I told her that I didn't want to spend more than $50 and the price was so affordable I was shocked!

A week before the shower, more people had RSVP'd. So I called Eccentric and asked if they can add more to the cake since more people will be attending. She said, "sure, no problem. So for an additional $20 she added a lady bug to the top of the cake and another layer, feeding 30 people!

When I arrived to pick up the cake, I was nervous to see it. But when she showed me the cake looked great!! It was huge! She was kind enough to ask me if I needed help to my car, but I managed. :-)

I ordered a white cake with fresh strawberry filling with butter cream frosting. It was Delicious! There was so much extra cake to give away!

Wow! That's all I can say. Our wrong guests were raving about this cake and going back for seconds. Truly great job. We had a display cake to cut and then sheet cakes in back. The display cake was an unusual request as you can see from the picture and they did a great job. My guests thought it was so funny. The flavors, textures, and frosting were amazing, plus the cake was so moist. Really you cannot go wrong hiring them. These ladies did one heck of a job. Thank you!

I found them off of yelp and needed a birthday cake same day. I went in they were all very friendly and all made sure I was taken care of. From what I saw they had some nice designs and fun looking deserts. Lucky for me they had two pre-made cakes for sale. I got a chocolate ganache cake and it was a party pleaser. It was so delicious yet light and fluffy.

They were accommodating in making me some last minute plain cupcakes which was really nice of them. It's best to preorder a cake, but even if not they seem accommodating as they can be and vey helpful. I will for sure buy from them again.

I would highly recommend this bakery. Not only for all my weddings as a planner, but they also do all my birthdays. I love the feel and the warmth I get from this married couple and family run business. I like that my cake is fresh and the artwork they create is amazing.
